Red pandas, also known as firefoxes, are arboreal mammals native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. They have distinctive rusty-red fur, a long bushy tail and a bear-like appearance. They feed primarily on bamboo leaves and shoots, but also eat fruits, eggs, and small insects. Red pandas are solitary animals that are primarily active during the night. They have a relaxed and slow-paced demeanor, but can become aggressive when threatened. They have a playful and curious nature, and have been observed to engage in behaviors such as rolling, climbing, and playing with objects. Red pandas have a strong memory and are able to recognize individual humans and other red pandas. They communicate through vocalizations, body language, and scent marking. Red pandas have a strong sense of territory and will defend it against intruders. Despite their solitary nature, they have been observed to engage in social behavior such as play, grooming, and mutual scent marking.
